A world of Unity

"When we find ourselves looking at the world and saying, 'There's nothing out there for me,' we should probably also look into our hearts and ask, 'If there's nothing out there, is there anything in here?' We need to examine our inner dialogue to discover where we might be blocking the conscious energy flow, then remove the ego, step out of the way, and let the fire of the soul shine through us." ~Deepak Chopra

"If there is truly nothing that you can do to change your here and now, and you can't remove yourself from the situation, then accept your here and now totally by dropping all inner resistance. The false, unhappy self that loves feeling miserable, resentful, or sorry for itself can then no longer survive. This is called surrender. Surrender is not weakness. There is great strength in it. Only a surrendered person has spiritual power. Through surrender you will be free internally of the situation. You may then find that the situation changes without any effort on your part. In any case, you are free." ~Eckhart Tolle

"Failed recovery is responding to present-day situations with yesterday's emotional package-which you used back when the situation was totally different. Serenity or living in a state of recovery is all about letting yesterday be yesterday and today be today. Recovery is training ourselves by practicing daily disciplines to act in the present as the present and not from the emotional stance of a thousand past yesterdays." ~Earnie Larsen

Today is such an important day in so many ways. Five years ago, we received a wake up call of such enormous proportions that no one could afford to not listen. The war on terrorism since then has had us all immersed in every emotion from the most basic fear to intense patriotism, and for some, even apathy. I do not argue the validity of such war, on this day of remembrance, arguments have no place.

But I do remember the thousands of people who lost their lives. I remember the desperation felt that would empower people to fling themselves from burning buildings in the hope of survival. I remember the recorded phone calls to loved ones who in their last minutes could do nothing but think of letting people know that they were everything to them. I remember the passengers on a plane who decided that the bigger picture, saving tremendous amounts of lives was much more important than the immediate one of saving their own. I remember a nation shocked into silence that all we heard for hours was the televised broadcasts burning into our memories, the time when no one felt safe. And I remember the workers who went without thought or concern for themselves into burning structures, collapsing buildings, and directly into clouds of noxious gases to save someone, anyone, any… one.

After this day we came together as one. We all felt the loss shudder through each other as distinctly as an earthquake shudders through land for MILES. We held hands, we remembered, we cried openly, we consoled each other. No one’s pain was wrong; no one’s sadness was ill founded or not justified. Everyone got hugs…

Immerse yourself in that memory. Remember those moments, where we stood in line to offer coffee cups to passing firemen who continued DAYS after the trouble to try and clear out and still held hope that maybe miracles happen and people could be found. Remember and don’t you ever forget that someone’s family was devastated by this. That someone’s loved one was never found. Remember the candle light vigils and how everyone for a time loved each other as one body, unique parts, but one whole body.

Now…

Close your eyes and imagine a world like that right now. A world where a tragic event doesn’t NEED to happen to make us feel what we ALREADY KNOW; a world where no one is too small or inconsequential to be loved.

Remember that…live that… and be a part of change.

WELL WISHES

Today’s wish is really a prayer that I posted on a webpage hastily put together to help offer numbers and means of contact to those families who couldn’t get through via the traditional websites and resources… I send this to you ALL today, because as this event in our history reminds us, we are all one.

You are a blessing to me…everyday

National Prayer
Lord, we come to you on bended knee, heads bowed and our hearts filled to overflowing with so much grief for the many people who have been injured and killed in our National crisis.

We ask you Lord, to give courage and strength to those who so bravely go to their aid. And though their hearts will be heavy and filled with sorrow we ask Lord that you give them the endurance needed to help them through this difficult task.

Please give us the strength Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country.

Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty. We ask Lord, that you guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision.

The burden that has been placed on their shoulders during this crisis is overwhelming.

We ask that with your infinite wisdom you guide them gently to the right decisions.

And lastly Lord, we ask that you allow us all to come together as a Nation, to stand tall and united, so that we might help each other in our hour of need...

Amen

All through the night
Guardian angels God will send thee
All through the night."
